RESOPAN-DSR

RESOPAN-DSR Capsule is a combination medicine primarily used to treat Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) (also known as acid reflux), severe heartburn, and peptic ulcers. It helps relieve symptoms like chest discomfort, burning sensation, and regurgitation.

RESOPAN-DSR typically contains two active ingredients: Pantoprazole (a Proton Pump Inhibitor or PPI) and Domperidone (a prokinetic agent).

Pantoprazole works by powerfully reducing the production of stomach acid. Domperidone improves the movement of the stomach and intestines (motility), helping food empty faster and preventing acid from flowing back into the food pipe (esophagus).

While it can provide relief for symptoms of indigestion like bloating and nausea (due to the Domperidone component), it is a powerful prescription medicine primarily designed for conditions involving excessive acid and reflux (like GERD). Consult your doctor before using it for simple, occasional indigestion.

RESOPAN-DSR Capsule should be taken once daily, preferably in the morning, at least 30 to 60 minutes before a meal (on an empty stomach). This allows the acid-reducing component (Pantoprazole) to work most effectively.

RESOPAN-DSR provides immediate relief from symptoms like nausea and fullness (Domperidone), but the full, long-lasting acid-suppression effect from Pantoprazole may take a few days to build up for complete healing of the esophagus or ulcers.

Common side effects can include headache, dizziness, diarrhea, dry mouth, and flatulence (gas). If you experience severe side effects like persistent diarrhea or muscle pain, consult your doctor.

While effective, long-term use (over one year) of PPIs like Pantoprazole may be associated with increased risks, including bone fractures and low Vitamin B12 and magnesium levels. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration necessary, as advised by your doctor.

To optimize treatment, it is recommended to avoid foods that worsen acidity, such as spicy/fatty foods, coffee, carbonated drinks, and excessive alcohol.

Caution is advised. Domperidone has been associated with a small increased risk of serious heart rhythm problems. You must inform your doctor if you have a history of heart failure, irregular heart rhythm, or electrolyte imbalance before starting this medication.
